Bella Cleaning’s “Buy THIS not THAT!”

Bella Cleaning has been servicing Long Island since 2010, which means over eight years of serious learning experiences!

When you hire “The Bella’s”, you’re hiring quality skill and professional expertise. Check out our first “Buy THIS not THAT” product guide below!

BUY THIS: An Initial Cleaning service with Bella Cleaning
NOT THAT: iRobot Roomba

Although we love…

-The Roomba for pet maintenance. Add a timer to your Roomba and let it suck up paw prints and pet hair while you’re at work. The Roomba is great for cleaning up after your furry family members. It’s great for the “in-between” touch-ups between thorough cleanings.

-The Roomba for efficiency and convenience. Cook dinner, get ready, all while detecting dirt and giving a ride to your pet parrot? Sign us up!

We just can’t with…

-Astronomical prices! Buying a Roomba could cost upwards of $350! We spend a lot of time cleaning homes, and we find that most Roomba’s sit unused in dark, dusty corners. Our clients always end up calling us regardless, and that’s the gospel truth.

-A streamlined approach. Your cleaning needs are unique, and that’s just not something you can articulate to a Robot. A Roomba does almost the same job for everyone, and while it’s fine short-term, you will eventually need to saddle up your old vacuum to get in corners and under furniture.

Cut the “bleep bleep bloop” and schedule your initial cleaning! Did you know that a visit from us could cost less than half of your first Roomba purchase? Listen people, technology is ever-changing, so who knows when your Roomba will be obsolete.

When you hire Bella Cleaning, you’re hiring humans and cleaning professionals all wrapped in one adorable package! We cover all the bases (in the time it takes your robot to cover *some* of your living room). A cleaning service is worth your time and money; a robot takeover is not!

BUY THIS: Adhesive bath stickers
NOT THAT: Household tub mat with suction cups

Although we love…

-Tub mats for safety. Using your favorite body wash might lead a dangerous situation for you or other clumsy people using your shower! Tub mats have become a popular solution to slippery shower/bath floors, for adults and children alike.

-Tub mats for protecting against flooring damage, and preventing further damage. Tub mats are a great solution for any bathtub that has been compromised by life’s tiny accidents. Also if you’re moving in after a disgusting tenant or previous owner, a tub mat can give you peace of mind, knowing your feet aren’t touching that history!

We just can’t with…

-Mold. Tub mats are a breeding ground for mold and mildew. When water runs down the shower floor, moisture collects between the floor and suction cups. Many people forget to remove, scrub, or machine wash their mats on a consistent basis, which also leads to irreversible staining on the tub when left for too long.

-Bacteria. Sure, manufacturers may claim these mats to be antibacterial, but tub flooring and our feet are not! So next time you run the bath and grab your bath bombs, remember what you might be bathing with under that mat!

Using slip resistant adhesive stickers for the bottom of your shower and tub are the BEST way to keep a germ free environment while also fostering a safe bathing space. They are easy to apply, clean, and later remove. They achieve the same results with a lot less work in the long run (trust us). You can even get creative with the shapes and design!

BUY THIS: Libman Mop
NOT THAT: Swiffer Sweeper/Wet Jet

Although we love…

-Swiffer mops for the brand reliability. All we can do is rave about our Swiffer dusters, they truly are the best duster on the market! You would think Swiffer mops would be just as spectacular, BUT…

We just can’t with…

-The Waste. The disposable mop and sweeper pads for Swiffer mops don’t get you very far. Cleaning the floor in ONE room may take up to three or four moistened pads! The other option of this type of mop uses the dry plastic-like velcro pads, which essentially smear dirt around the floor instead of absorbing it. We want a mop that is reusable, convenient, AND environmentally friendly!

-The Floor solution. The solution bottles are made special for the Swiffer mop, which is especially bad news for the consumer! It just ain’t fair! Whenever your solution runs out, you have to buy another specially fit bottle. Believe us, you pay for the mop again and again after buying it!

We have a solution (no pun intended), and that is the tried-and-true Libman Mop! Imagine a world where your mop pad is safe to handle, effective, and reusable. The Libman mop utilizes a cloth mop pad that you can throw in the wash! In addition, the mop style and spray handle is sleek and ergonomically comfortable to use. Lastly, you can pop open and fill the mop bottle with your favorite floor cleaning solution! Freedom is a beautiful thing!

How Much Are You REALLY Saving on “Do it Yourself” Cleanings?

How Much Are You REALLY Saving on “Do it Yourself” Cleanings?

According to The Nest (a popular lifestyle blog), the average American spends anywhere between $40-$50 per month on cleaning supplies. You may ask, “What supplies exactly?” Think trash bags, floor cleaners, and detergents. It’s surprising how these costs can add up; $600 per year on Clorox disinfectant wipes and scrubbing bubbles can total to around $3,000 in a five year span (enough savings to purchase a used car, afford a down payment, or go on a well-deserved vacation abroad!)

These numbers may seem timid to some, but one of the most concerning factors we see aside from spending your hard earned cash, is the consumer footprint attached to purchasing personal cleaning goods. We agree, it’s a good idea to keep a green-clean “multi-purpose” spray around the house. BUT, do you need every specialized concoction on the market? Most Americans are spending $50 (or more) per month on supplies that later become waste as they cannot be washed and reused (such as one-use mop pads and wipes), recycled (plastics carrying harsh chemicals, or popular tech like the Roomba), or repurposed (If you are reusing sponges, bath mats, and toilet brushes…you may want to reconsider).

In addition, most supplies bought by American consumers end up collecting dust while occupying useful cabinet space, later getting poured down the slop sink. Why? Because Americans are “just too freakin’ busy” to clean! Remember, the costs we are detailing concern supplies only, they do not include the time it takes to go shopping for said supplies, or the time and energy used on said supplies. This is vital! And brings us to our next point… YOU.

Bella Cleaning is really about you. You may be saving money doing it yourself, or bribing your kids to do a halfway decent job, but how much are you really SAVING? Are you saving time? Are you saving energy? Are you saving the environment?

Hiring a cleaning service may be a financial investment, but it is also an investment in your peace of mind. A cleaning service is an investment in your relationship, your health, and your family’s overall well-being (fur babies included). So If you’re accustomed to scrubbing solo, consider Bella Cleaning a kind of “cleaning carpool.” Rather than spending hundreds of dollars (and hours) on supplies you may or may not use, let us do the shopping and dirt wrangling for you because Bella Cleaning cuts the most important cost of all; your time!

We provide transportation, supplies, and smiles!

Bella Cleaning: “We’re Not the Millennials you see on TV!”

Well, not completely.

The Western generation war between Baby Boomers and Millennials is one for the ages, infiltrating every American workplace in the last ten years.
We’ve got Baby Boomers hollering “Anything you can do I can do better” and Millennials heckling back; “Look what you made us do!” The age gap battle is in full swing lately as the Baby Boomers retire into a world which has changed so much in so little time. Millennials are entering their thirties as adults who must navigate a media-driven, hyper-misinformed society. Everything is fair game for criticism on both parties; from politics, to relationships, to education, and most importantly in our case; work ethic. So, while disagreements between generations will always persist, it’s increasingly important to find empathy and common ground. Just as our world is increasingly more complicated!

Let’s define the individuals we are talking about here. And as a side note, your future cleaning service (that’s us, Bella) is completely composed of (yep, you guessed it) Millennials!

Baby Boomers were America’s first mega generation, a historic population of post-depression/war era babies born between 1946 and 1964. Generation Y, more commonly known and referred to as “Millennials,” were born between 1980 and 1994, morphing over to Gen Z in 1995. If a Baby Boomer was to describe Baby Boomers in a couple words, those words would most likely be “hard working,” “self-made,” “resilient,” and “transformative,” as they were participating in much of civil rights era history. They were also developing their careers at a fruitful time in American capitalism, so honest work yielded outstanding results (for most, I won’t be touching on the intersection of class, gender, or race today, but it’s no secret why Millennials continue to push for equality). Through pain and triumph, Baby Boomers created the arts and culture that younger generations emulate and participate in today.
Ask a Millennial to describe Millennials in a couple words and those words might be “innovative,” “personal,” “self-absorbed,” “hard-working,” “progressive,” and maybe even “disadvantaged.” Millennials are experiencing an exponential increase of technology development, but a decrease in the integrity of information. Many of this generation struggles with education debt, and steep taxing on small business and entrepreneurship. The minimum wage has not caught up with the cost of living, and as a result they have been given the stereotype of “lazy” or “nomadic” when the truth is that they cannot realistically afford the same living standards as previous generations. Millennials care about their self image, feelings, and people’s opinions of them. Millennials seek to reinvent the rules, and explore topics previously adjourned by the rule makers that came before them. What Boomers think of as “politically correct,” Millennials just see as “common sense.”

Now back to that “common ground” I was talking about..

You probably see Millennials featured on talk shows and news stories, explaining social media and sending emojis.. BUT, that stereotype is far from the real thing. Did you know our CEO is a self-made Millennial who started her business eight years ago, right out of her car? Doesn’t sound “lazy” now does it? We are masters of the “hustle,” young people who are passionate about the future. We strive to make a difference in whatever way we can, we believe our work has purpose! That is the stereotype we strive for.

At Bella Cleaning, we’ve found that cleaning services do not discriminate. Help in your home or office will never go out of style! We serve a diverse population, ranging from Millennials to Xennials, Generation X to the Silent Generation, and one thing is certain; hard work! We know what it means, and that’s why you can trust our help. As much as the wise likes to differ from the youth (and vice versa), we have found it is the unique experiences, and the diversity of our clients and employees alike that truly make our business special.

So, next time you hear “oh, those millennials…”
Consider these ones 🙂

With love and a Happy Friday,
Bella Cleaning
